Huba hand woven Bolga basket
Story
They are created by the ancient practice of weaving natural fibres such as Ilala Palm, Sisal, Seagrass and Cane reeds. The coastal wave Bolga Basket is a colorful and striking, functional work of art. Traditionally used as colanders, separating millet from water these baskets are exclusively woven by the indigenous Gurune people of the town of Bolgatanga, the crafts center of Ghana.
The weavers create the pattern, texture and layers. Colours are created with natural organic vegetable and mineral dyes. Whilst we maintain a high standard of production and quality control within the weaving groups, we equally celebrate the individual and their craft.
